Maybe, but only a little. Kollagen Intensiv is applied to the skin rather than swallowed, and it's our top pick among anti-aging face creams. The big SYN-COLL claims come from unpublished studies by the supplier and the brand, and nobody has published a trial of the finished cream. Retinol has the strongest independent backing of anything in it, yet the amount used isn't disclosed.
The claims made for SYN-COLL
According to its supplier, SYN-COLL (palmitoyl tripeptide-5) imitates thrombospondin-1 and so prompts skin cells to produce collagen. The wrinkle figures come from two places: the supplier, which includes a one-month study of a 2.5% formula, and an unnamed 84-day study that the brand cites. Neither has been peer reviewed or lays out full methods. We read them as marketing claims, not proof.
Retinol, the ingredient with firmer support
An independent randomized trial found that a 0.4% retinol lotion softened fine wrinkles and raised procollagen across 24 weeks in older adults. The cream lists retinol and retinyl palmitate but not how much. That makes it impossible to compare with the trial.

Retinol often brings dryness, redness and flaking early on, and it makes skin more sensitive to sun. Wear sunscreen every day and patch-test first if your skin is sensitive. If you're pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding, ask a doctor before using it.
Nobody has published a trial of the finished cream. The wrinkle claims for SYN-COLL rest on unpublished studies from the supplier and brand. Retinol, also in the formula at an undisclosed concentration, has the best independent evidence. We rank it first among anti-aging face creams, but results are likely to be modest.

Collagen production in skin declines with age, and retinol has trial evidence for fine wrinkles in older skin. The cream itself hasn't been tested in any age group. Retinol may also irritate dry or sensitive skin in the early weeks.
